If the school is closed, the local authority and families will be informed in a number of ways:
- The school website will updated with a message on the home page
- Emails will be sent to all concerned
- Messages will be sent to local radio stations
- The Local Authority education website will be informed and updated
The school will only be closed during term time if there are health and safety concerns.
The most common reason for this is as a result of extreme snow. If this is the case, it may be unsafe for staff and parents who need to drive their children to school, to travel in safely. There may not be enough staff available in school to adhere to health and safety regulations or the site may be unsafe due to extreme ice.
Other possible closures can be caused by mechanical or structural failures which deem the site to be unsafe
In all cases we will attempt to resolve the issues as quickly as possible and reopen the school as soon as it is safe to do so.
