If the school is closed, the local authority and families will be informed in a number of ways:

  • The school website will updated with a message on the home page
  • Emails will be sent to all concerned
  • Messages will be sent to local radio stations
  • The Local Authority education website will be informed and updated

The school will only be closed during term time if there are health and safety concerns.

It is now extremely unlikely that the shcool, or spefic classes, will be closed as a result of extreme Covid-19 infections. However if is this does occur then parents will be informed immmediately and lessons will continue remotely, on line. (Please refer to the Remote Education page on the school website for more details.)

The other most common reason for school closure is as a result of extreme snow. If this is the case, it may be unsafe for staff and parents who need to drive their children to school, to travel in safely. There may not be enough staff available in school to adhere to health and safety regulations or the site may be unsafe due to extreme ice. As a snow closure is likely to only last one day, remote leanring will not be available.

Other possible closures can be caused by mechanical or structural failures which deem the site to be unsafe.

In all cases we will attempt to resolve the issues as quickly as possible and reopen the school as soon as it is safe to do so.
